Thoughts on the intersection of Society/Culture, Productivity/You, and Wisdom/Knowledge.

Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom – and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech. Benjamin Franklin

My Week
I started my week with a college football game. The New Mexico State Aggies won a nail-biter, with the opposing team needing a touchdown from the 10-yard line with 9 seconds to go. Two missed passes later, the Aggies had won. I have a light week of meetings, Physical Therapy, and resting. Perhaps I may end the week caught up. I had a CT scan of my heart arteries, and all came out normal, whatever that means. Normal is one of our English words that is always subject to interpretation. My doctor thinks normal was not good enough, so I have an appointment with a cardiologist in January.

Wisdom for the week.
"Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow."

Anonymous

Gratitude is a word that we hear and see in print a lot. But what does it mean in your life? Let's start with the definition. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and a readiness to show appreciation and to return kindness.

Being grateful helps us become healthier mentally. This study from Mind and Body demonstrated that focusing on gratitude helps us clear toxic emotions from our minds and allows us to develop a more positive life. Even if you don't share, just writing a gratitude journal will have a positive impact.

The anonymous author of this wisdom quote states clearly that focusing on gratitude will help you have a more peaceful life today. We all know things happen that we can see positively or negatively. Still, if we are generally grateful in our approach to life, we will be mentally healthier and more positive.

Gratitude is a better foundation for our future vision than life's frustrations. So, as you think about your future, and we all do, if you are living a life of gratitude and always looking for those things to be grateful for, then you are coming from a more positive space and will have a more positive view of what is possible for your future.

In reality, we all want to make peace with and sense of our past, have a more peaceful daily existence in our chaotic world, and finally have hope for a better future. Gratitude will help you achieve all of these.

BE Grateful!

Questions to ponder:

1. Am I thankful for what I have?
2. How do I show appreciation and kindness to others?
3. When I do my daily reflections, do I look for things to be thankful for?
