My WEEK

My WEEK: I had three days in wellington this week, so we will have only two and a half days to prepare for the farmer’s market. When we return to the farm, we must pick produce to prepare for the market. My vacation is rapidly coming to an end. Next week we will be in another town for three or four days and then two days again to prepare for the market. It is incredible how Kate shuffles farm and MD life.

OUR WEEKLY Wisdom QUOTE

The nearer a man comes to a calm mind, the closer he is to strength. Marcus Aurelius

A calm mind that deals with this moment’s reality and isn’t worrying about the past or planning the future in their mind approaches the calmness that Marcus Aurelius is talking about. Unfortunately, thisUnfortunately, this is something that few achieve in today’s chaotic society. So how can we approach a calm mind?

The two primary methods we can use are meditation and mindfulness.

Meditations help calm my chaotic brain and bring the focus back into my life. For example, For example, I often start working on something, and the next thing I know, my mind changes the topic, taking me down another rabbit hole. To refocus then, I do a short meditation breathing exercise. This is a simple exercise and an excellent way to start a meditation habit. First, get comfortably seated.

Breathe through your nose for four or five counts paying attention to how your body feels.
Hold for a four or five count.
And then breathe out through your mouth for the same count.
Hold for a five count
And then repeat.

While exercising, focus on feeling the breath going into and out of your body and lungs. As your mind focuses on your body, it pulls itself away from the topics it was pursuing, and you become calmer and more able to focus on what you want.

You can repeat this exercise periodically throughout your day to calm your mind. It also helps to do it between tasks each time you take a break from one task before you start another.

The Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand defines “Mindfulness as paying attention to what is occurring with kindness and curiosity.” This means we are focused on the now. When we focus on what is before us, our mind is calm, and we are stronger for it. With a quiet mind, we will have better relationships with the people and problems we are dealing with. As a result, ourAs a result, our lives will be less stressful and more fulfilling.

Using these meditation and mindfulness techniques, our mind will become less chaotic, resulting in a calm and clear mind that boosts our well-being by reducing stress and gives us a clearer and stronger reason for learning and problem-solving.

Start developing your calm mind for a better life!
