Thoughts on the intersection of Society/Culture, Productivity/You, and Wisdom/Knowledge.

Without freedom of thought, there can be no such thing as wisdom – and no such thing as public liberty without freedom of speech. Benjamin Franklin

Think: Simone de Beauvoir stressed the importance of questioning social norms. But also to think critically about freedom, equality, and existence. “In every society the artist or writer remains an outsider.”
Simone de Beauvoir reminds us that in this period of massive change: a new President, artificial intelligence, wars, climate uncertainty, and the growth of economic uncertainty, it is up to us to think. We are called to think critically about what is going on and call our leaders to task when they stray. We are especially called upon to protect our societal values and social norms.
Critical thinkers are the people of reason. They analyze and question everything before they make a decision. Critical thinkers get involved in public discourse. They challenge public narratives by questioning assumptions and looking for biases.
We also need Liminal thinkers- the people who are the navigators of possibility. Liminal thinkers foster creativity by seeing connections where others may not see any. They inhabit the innovation landscape. They are the change-makers. They help pull us forward whether we like it or not.
We also need intuitive thinkers - those who act on instinct. To some extent they counter-balance critical thinkers.
Regardless of how you would categorize yourself, the key element is that we must think for ourselves during this period of increasingly rapid change.
- What type of thinker are you?
- What type of thinker do you want to become?
1. Consider what you think about and decide how to move to critical thinking mode.
2.To build the society we want, we are going to need critical thinking, which includes speaking out. Identify ways you can speak out locally, and nationally.
